National competition of underwater photography of Monaco 2017
The Deepdown Photography team is proud to announce its 3rd rank in the general classification of the 14th National Underwater Photography Competition of Monaco.
As every year, the prize-giving ceremony took place in the great hall of the mythical Oceanographic Museum of the Principality, in the presence of HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco, who did us the honor of attending.
We would like to thank our Monegasque friends at the CESMM for the organization and their warm welcome, as well as all the participants of this competition, for making it an unforgettable event.
A big thank you also goes to our “team manager” and friend Alex Mergen who, despite some hazards on the return trip, has been a precious help and, as usual, a pleasant company.
See you all next year for new adventures on the Rock !!

The First International Challenge of Underwater Photography of Monaco sponsored by the Monegasque Federation of Subaquatiques took place from 3d to 6th of October 2013.
At invitation of Mr Roger Mullot, president of the Club de plongée sous-marine de Monaco (CESMM), Steve Carmentran and Jean-François Leblond travelled to “the rock” in order to represent Luxembourg on the one hand and the FLASSA on the other hand. Six nations were represented at this challenge, namely France, Germany, Spain, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Canada and the Principality of Monaco.
Two dives of 90 minutes each were planned in connection to which the candidates had to present a serie of 5 pictures to the jury (2 photos “atmosphere” 1 photo “fish” and 2 photos “Macro”). The photos were judged by series and no editing or manipulation of the images was allowed. The award ceremony was held in the large conference room of the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco. Steve and Jean-François wish to thank the FLASSA for the confidence and for offering them the opportunity to take part in a competition of this magnitude, which was a very rewarding experience for them.
Their participation in this event was covered in the tageblatt article of November 7, 2013.
